Each year, the American Red Cross Serving King and Kitsap Counties host a Real Heroes Breakfast in the Kitsap and North Mason Counties area to bring attention to heroes in our community who have saved lives, committed selfless acts of courage and compassion and exemplify the mission and qualities of the Red Cross movement.

Viking Fest – Third weekend in May

This year’s event will be May 20-22, 2011 and celebrates Poulsbo’s proud Norwegian heritage. A variety of entertainment, local artisans and restaurants will have booths each day of the festival. The Viking Village focuses on the way of life for Vikings in 1500 A.D. and is a must see! Viking Fest Road Run

This annual event will be held Sat., May 21, 2011 in conjunction with other Viking Fest celebrations. Civil War Re-enactment Battles and Encampments

Muddy Paw Dog Agility

MudPACK (Muddy Paws Agility Club of Kitsap) will be hosting a North American Dog Agility Council (NADAC) sanctioned trial for dogs of all breeds and mixed breeds in Port Gamble   July 15-17, 2011 from 8am - 5pm. Dog agility is one of the fastest growing sports in America. A trial demonstrates the ability of the dog and its handler to work under control as a functioning team over obstacles. The obstacles, including jumps, weave poles, teeter-totter, a-frame, tunnels, and dog walk, are grouped into courses for various levels of competition. Pre-registration is required to compete but spectators are more than welcome. Please be fair to the competitors by keeping your children and pets under control while you are there.

Chief Seattle Days

"A northwest Indian Festival," in honor of Chief Seattle by the Suquamish Indian Tribe. Among the festivities is a salmon bake, Indian art, canoe races, pow-wow, and traditional Indian dancing. 6th Annual Maritime Music Festival

Touch A Truck

On Sat., August 20, 2011 bring your children to the Poulsbo Village Shopping Center. The parking lot in front of Albertsons will again hold a special treat for young and old alike. From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. kids (and adults) will be able to crawl around and look into many different vehicles that they see around town.  From a fire truck, to EMT vehicles, dump trucks, a moving van, and cement mixer to police cars and police boats, it will be an experience for all. Habitat for Humanity - Raise the Roof!

Sept. 23 at Raise the Roof. Doors open at 6 p.m. at the Kitsap Sun Pavilion at the Fairgrounds. Individual tickets are $90, a table of eight is $700. Tickets are available at: www.kitsaphabitat.org.

The night includes dinner and entertainment and a live auction. One item to be auctioned is a shed built by the Habitat store, Builders Bargains. It is composed entirely  of donated and recycled materials.

 

Forest Festival/Old Mill Days

This festival takes place in Port Gamble from Sept. 30 - Oct. 2, 2011. Times are Friday 3-10pm, Saturday 10am - 10pm, Sunday 10am - 6pm. First Lutheran Church Annual Lutefisk Dinner

On Oct. 15, 2011 from 11:30am - 5pm, the First Lutheran Church of Poulsbo will serve its famous Lutefisk dinner with lefse (unleavened Scandinavian bread). 2nd Annual Poulsbo Marathon & Half Marathon Run/Walk

Marathons will be held Sun., Oct. 16, 2011 at North Kitsap High School. Races start at 7:30am on Hostmark Street and finish at the NKHS track. 

Course includes Noll Road, Lemolo Shore, Front Street, the Poulsbo Place neighborhood, Fish Park, American Legion Park, and Poulsbo Waterfront Park. Both full and half marathon routes follow the same course for the first 12 miles. The course then splits, as the half marathon heads to the finish line and the full marathon continues on for a hilly, scenic loop through Suquamish, before returning to the finish line at the track.

Walkers are welcome in the half marathon. Six hour time limit for the full marathon.

Halloween Trick or Treat in Poulsbo

On Oct. 31st starting at 4 p.m., watch out for ghosts, goblins and witches roaming the streets of Historic Downtown Poulsbo looking for candy treats from local merchants. For the safety of the children Front Street will be closed from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Please bring a non-perishable food donation for the Fishline Food Bank and enjoy the fun.

Halloween Celebration in Port Gamble

On Oct. 31st from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. start at the Dauntless Bookstore, pick up your Port Gamble Halloween Celebration Passport and let the fun begin.
